McCarty submits additional DNA sample

At an afternoon hearing in Judge Twyla Mason Gray’s courtroom (pictured), Curtis McCarty submitted an additional DNA sample for testing in the Pamela Kaye Willis murder case.

McCarty’s new sample will be tested against fingernail evidence Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater’s office discovered in February.

Results from the previous DNA sample indicated there were two male components present. The majority component does not match McCarty.

The DNA submission, taken from McCarty today, will be shipped overnight to a lab that will test against the minor component.

With a Friday hearing approaching, McCarty’s attorneys hope the results will be available before the hearing begins.

Also today, the judge announced the footprint discovered in February did not match McCarty and will be admissible as evidence.

Twice convicted and sentenced to death three times for the crime, McCarty awaits trial for the 1982 killing of Willis. -Scott Cooper
