If you have seen any of the three “Bourne” films, you know that the music plays a big role in supporting the on-screen fight sequences, car chases and global espionage and treachery.
Most of the soundtrack to “The Bourne Ultimatum” is composed and arranged by John Powell. His arrangement in “Tangiers” reflects the Muslim impact of the culture there, with percolating ethnic drums and a searing string ensemble. His heavy use of drums and percussion is felt in “Faces Without Names,” “Man Versus Man” and “Waterloo.”
Electronic-savvy songwriter/programmer/DJ and musical phenomenon Moby’s song for the soundtrack, “Extreme Ways (Bourne’s Ultimatum)” is a perfect addition, but easily could be a stand-alone success. Moby’s track is the song for the spy or assassin, who, at the end of the day, just wants to drive down some narrow European road, Beretta handgun on the hip, alone in his or her thoughts of life, love and lethal, clandestine, government black projects. So grab your iPod and scurry around your neighborhood tonight and practice your cool over-the-shoulder glances.
