The law wasn’t fuzzy for a cross-dressing man whom police say swiped a $1 pair of fuzzy dice from a local Dollar General store, per a recent story.
According to the McAlester News Capitol, the 19-year-old faces up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for alleged larceny of merchandise from a retailer, which police say occurred on July 30.
The story reports that, according to the case affidavit, a manager at the store noted that the man entered the retailer with an empty purse, but that it “was packed full when he left.” She told the court that she tried to stop the man at the door, but he ran, and she “grabbed his purse, it broke and he kept running.”
Police later found the man in possession of the fuzzy dice near the intersection of Wade Watts Avenue and U.S. Highway 69, according to the News Capitol.
In addition to the fine, the man also faces $266 in court costs and, if the court appoints an attorney for him, another $275.
“It’s like I said both times I was appointed: It doesn’t matter who you are or who your daddy is, if you break the law you break the law,” District Attorney J.B. Miller said, according to the story. “Add court costs and even something relatively petty can get expensive.”
We at Chicken-Fried News wonder if this was really a crime, or just performance art.
