State’s first Halloween fan convention slated

TrickConTreat, Oklahoma’s first and only Halloween fan convention, invites everyone to get into the season’s spirit a little early this year.

The convention gives fanatics a chance to hear ghost stories from local authors, see the latest in ghost-hunting technologies, and gather makeup and costume tips from the pros.

The all-day event will take place Saturday at the Biltmore Hotel, 401 S. Meridian.

TrickConTreat brings a collection of exhibitors from T-shirts and comics to costumes and artwork, and it offers fun for the whole family with separate activities for children and adults.

While the adults can learn how to throw a successful Halloween party and discuss paranormal investigations, children can enjoy child-friendly ghost stories, paint pumpkins with guest artist John Kevin Hopkins and go trick-or-treating around the convention.

The die-hard Halloween fans are invited to the TrickConTreat Zombie Ball at 9 p.m. where they can show off their undead look. The Zombie Ball costume contest kicks off at 10 p.m. where categories include:
” “Zombie of the Year,”
” “Most Creative Wound” and
” “best Looking Corpse.”

Partiers must be 18 to enter, and 21 to drink.

Daytime-only tickets are $3 and full-day tickets are $12, which include the Zombie Ball. Kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult. For more information, visit their site or call 436-2446. “Lauren Parajon
