Holidays of all kinds will be celebrated at the Village Public Library’s “Holiday Make and Take” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Village Library, 10307 N. Pennsylvania.
Kids ages 4 to 12 can make gifts, decorations and even something to eat at the annual event.
“We like to incorporate everyone’s tradition into it, which I think is important,” said Melissa O’Neil, children’s librarian at Village Library.
O’Neil said the library will have four to five tables full of different craft-making supplies on hand for kids to get creative in their holiday how-to.
“Basically I’m just going to let the kids have at it,” she said. “It frees the kids up to do whatever they want.”
And what holiday event at a library would be complete without a book reading and some hot chocolate?
“We’ll sit on the floor and read a book,” O’Neil said. “The hot chocolate mix will be a little treat for them to take home.”
O’Neil said parents are welcome to drop their kids off for a couple of hours of supervised activities. She also noted that all of the programs at the library are free.
“It’s just a lighthearted, fun way to get the holidays kicked off,” she said. “It’s open to everybody.”
