Keller Williams – 12

SCI Fidelity

Songwriter Keller Williams has released “12,” an album the Virginia singer touts as his “hitless greatest hits” career-spanning album.

His trademark guitar style and story-song vocal delivery is again delivered in each of “12”‘s dozen tracks, which were culled from his different records.

“Anyhow Anyway,” from his “Buzz” LP, is desolate and a bit spooky, in a folksy Phil Collins way, with additional female vocals added by Barbara Nesbit. Upright bass punctuates “Tribe,” and a full band’ complete with drums, bass, violin and hammered dulcimer’ marks “Breathe,” which Williams recorded in 1999.

With tracks spanning more than 20 jamming years of songs from a college-dorm favorite, “12” has some of the best from the Williams catalog, plus “Freshies,” a previously unreleased, reggae-inspired chill-out song .

If are trying to get your filthy tent-mates psyched up about this summer’s Bonnaroo Music Festival early, “12” will help remind them of the joys of hemp necklaces, sunburns and smelly women.
