Auto dealership participates in breast-cancer charity

Test-driving a car is great, because it allows potential purchasers to try before they buy. And test-driving a BMW on Tuesday is greater, because it also benefits the fight against breast cancer.

For the 12th annual BMW Ultimate Drive Supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 25 BMWs will be available for a charity-supporting spin between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Jackie Cooper Imports LLC, 14145 N. Broadway Extension in Edmond ” one of 210 cities participating in this year’s campaign.

While drivers get the feel of the car’s performance through a test-drive, they also get a feel-good, as BMW donates $1 for every mile driven to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In the program’s 11-year history, more than $11 million has been raised. Organizers hope to donate another $1 million once the program hits its final stop in December.

“We’ve been successful in getting hundreds of thousands of people involved with this program,” said Tom Purves, chairman and chief executive officer of BMW of North America, in a press release. “The program invites driving enthusiasts and community members to get behind the wheel and contribute to the battle against breast cancer, and this year we hope to inspire more people to participate by extending the length of the fund-raising drive.”
