Adding a toe-wiggling twist to one of Dad’s favorite pastimes, the Orr Family Farm is hosting its fifth “Father’s Day on the Farm” toe-fishing event on Saturday.
Tying strings and floats to their toes, fathers, sons and daughters will try to catch as many fish as they can from 1-2 p.m. to win the competition and a $150 gift certificate to spend at the farm, 14400 S. Western.
“It’s a fun way to bring fathers and children together in celebration of Father’s Day. And it’s very entertaining to watch!” said Glenn Orr, owner of Orr Family Farm, in a press release.
In addition to the main event, the day also will feature a 3 p.m. tractor pedal pull contest, where children will compete to see who can pull the most weight. Winners of this competition will be awarded a $10 gift certificate and qualify for the state tournament in the fall in Norman.
A 4 p.m. cow-milking competition will follow, in which fathers and children will try to milk as much as they can in two minutes from Bessie, the fiberglass cow. The winning team will receive $50 in merchandise from the on-site country store.
There will also be time to experience the other activities offered on the farm, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $10.50 for adults and children ages 2 and up, with half price for fathers. For more information, visit http://www.orrfamilyfarm.com or call 799-3276.
