The crafts themselves have a vintage, dreamy quality. So often, when people think of crafts, they immediately jump to images of musty country knickknacks or flouncy and cutesy baubles, but the projects represented in “Taking Flight” are unique and cool. Many of them seem to draw inspiration from found objects, like the 3-D collage that utilizes old letters or the hardcover book repurposed to become a picture frame.
There are only a few well-chosen projects detailed in the book, but I wanted to try each one, and I’m not even crafty.
