Norman Music festival expands to two-day event

Organizers revealed dates for the 2010 Norman Music Festival last week and announced that the third annual outdoor concert has been expanded into a two-day event.

To be held April 24-25 next year, NMF will again stage in downtown Norman, but festival chair Quentin Bomgardner said that the Saturday concerts will be indoors, with evening performances spread throughout various Norman clubs and venues.

The festival’s signature outdoor concerts ” which filled three blocks of Main Street with tens of thousands of fans at the two previous go-rounds ” are still slated for 2010, but have been moved to Sunday at the request of local business owners.

“A part of the reason for our decision for the two-day festival was to help out a few downtown businesses who have been hurt by the street closure on Saturdays,” he said. “By shifting to Sunday for the closure, we can avoid that issue.”

Bomgardner said festival headliners and performers will be announced early next year. “Joe Wertz
