In Your Eye Studio & Gallery
6-10 p.m. Friday, through April 30
Take a stroll through the Paseo on Friday, and you’ll get more than just an eyeful of art.
The In Your Eye Studio & Gallery, 3005-A Paseo, hosts an opening reception 6-10 p.m. Friday, highlighting Oklahoma art and wine during the art district’s First Friday Art Walk. The exhibit features local artist Karen Orr, along with new works from 10 area artists.
“Breathing Room” is a collection of expansive space and landscape paintings by Orr. Her paintings explore nature through a variety of media, featuring collages and different paints capturing the inspiration she receives from her surroundings. She uses oil, acrylic, watercolors or encaustic wax, depending on the impression she wishes to make.
Orr said it’s difficult to talk about her own work, but she believes her outdoor activities give her inspiration in nature’s unique settings.
“I’m an avid gardener,” she said. “The spaces and the colors and arrangement of nature is really something that can’t be duplicated in a planned manner. Those types of settings catch my eye. I take it and play with it to make my own.”
In addition to Orr’s paintings, the gallery will preview textile artist Stacey D. Miller. Her creations reminisce Moroccan design over the centuries, containing relief prints, various textures and bright colors.
Wine from Sand Hill Vineyards will be served at the reception. The Calumet winery is the gallery’s featured winery of the month, and several bottles and blends will be available for tasting and purchase.
The exhibit remains on display through April 30. For more information, visit http://www.inyoureyegallery.com. “Luke Atkinson
