Eerie guitar riffs and ethereal vocals blend into peaceful harmony for Norman-based Gentle Ghost.

The band evolved from the mind of Sethy McCarroll, current drummer for Toil and Trouble and bassist for both Student Film and Umbrellas. For his latest project he organized, he put himself on guitar and lead vocals and works as the sole songwriter. The rest of the band was handpicked to complement and tolerate his musical approach and creative style: guitarist and vocalist Brady Smith, bassist and vocalist Scott Harper, pianist (and Oklahoma Gazette music writer) Becky Carman, guitarist Tyler Huskerson and drummer Adam Huskerson.

On its MySpace page, the group describes itself on as “born of artfulness and intent manifested in raucous feedback, sweet melody, visual stimulation and physical strain.” For now, McCarroll is keeping his creation semi-off the spotlight, playing mostly small-scale, local shows with the possibility of some regional gigs in the near future.

The group debuted its first album, “Family,” last week in a limited release after a live performance during Record Store Day at Guestroom Records in Norman. “Emily Hopkins
