Public transit may not sound very exciting when considering the wait at the bus stop, the fare and finding a seat, but all of that changes on the second Friday of each month in Norman.

That’s when the Norman Arts Council, Norman Gallery Association and Cleveland Area Rapid Transit (CART) “” in partnership with various area businesses and organizations “” host the 2nd Friday Circuit of Art, an evening event that includes a ride around Norman with stops at predetermined locations showcasing art, live music and featured performances.

CART will haul participants to each stop on the program in 30-minute intervals. A fare of $2 covers the entire night, or 50 cents per ride. Stops include the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, The Jacobson House, Firehouse Art Center and Campus Corner.

No two programs are alike, which rings true for this month’s lineup, said Josh Lunsford with the Norman Arts Council. From fire-breathers and stilt-walkers to interactive art displays, there will be a host of things to experience.

“I wish it would go on for more than a few hours, because there is so much going on,” Lunsford said. “It’s really become a great community event.”

The event is from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. For more information, call 360-1162 or visit http://www.normanarts.org. “”Ta’Chelle Jones
