His best friend is Benny (Brandon T. Jackson, “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”), and the gal he’s in love with but doesn’t know it yet is Stacie (Naturi Naughton, “Fame”). He lives with his grandma (Loretta Devine, “Death at a Funeral”) and works at the Foot Locker at the mall.
Kevin’s a decent young man. He stays out of trouble. He’d like to go to design school, but can’t afford it. And he runs errands for Mr. Washington (Ice Cube, “Are We There Yet?”), an old guy who hasn’t left his apartment in 20 years and who Benny thinks is a serial killer. It’s anything but a rich life, but it’s generally comfortable, with the minor disappointments with which such lives are decorated.
Then everything becomes more complicated when Kevin runs afoul of recently released con Lorenzo (Gbenga Akinnagbe, “Edge of Darkness”), who thinks he can hustle nine pairs of shoes for free, but Kevin won’t let him get away with it.
Then Kevin wins $370 million in the lottery and things should get better, right? Not so much.
