Don’t let the sunshine in

As it turns out, too much sunlight can also be a bad thing for, if not government officials, at least for their captured images. Portraits and murals on the fourth floor of the state Capitol building are slowly degrading due to the light slipping in under the dome and striking the paintings.

While most of us would react to too much sun with a tan or (ow) sunburn, light has the opposite effect on the artwork, which are starting to lose their color. Especially at-risk are portraits of the late U.S. Sen. Robert S. Kerr and Congresswoman Alice Mary Robertson.

Plans to protect the paintings before they succumb entirely are underway.

Might CFN recommend SPF 100?
