“When approached, both the driver and the passenger produced fake Mexican driver licenses,” said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel, who announced the bust at a news conference today.
Whetsel, who faces a re-election vote tomorrow against challenger Darrell Sorrels, said officers easily spotted several cardboard boxes wrapped in tape in the backseat.
“A K-9 was called to search the truck, and the dog alerted his handler that there were drugs inside the vehicle,” Whetsel said.
COMIT confiscated six boxes containing 369 packages of pot with a street value of nearly $750,000.
Authorities arrested Cruz Rodriguez, 20, and Jose Pena, 17, on a complaint of trafficking a controlled dangerous substance.
