Energy player tapped for Olympic team

Kempin will join 22 other players in the United States Under-21 Men’s National Team (U-21) training camp in Carson, Calif., on April 20. He joined Sporting KC’s roster in 2010, and has been on loan within the United States Professional Soccer League (USL Pro) for the past two seasons. The goalkeeper has played three games with the Energy FC.

The U-21 team is the first step in establishing who will represent the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. According to a press release, players for the national team will be selected from recruits to the camp.

Kempin’s time with the Energy FC was brief, but memorable – with one shutout and 10 saves, he’s definitely one to watch.
