The ballet company now boasts the largest number of dancers in its
history and hopes to continue its record-breaking attendance run after
its current season.

The season opens in October with four
performances of Cinderella. Created by Jacob Sparso and using Russian
composer Sergei Prokofiev’s timeless score, the ballet has all of the
elements of a fairy tale, including the happily ever after.

Cane designed the scenery for Oklahoma City Ballet’s 2013 production of
Mowgli. Costume designer Susanne Hubbs from Colorado will help reimagine
this holiday classic for all ages, organizers said.

In February,
the company will stage a timeless tale of tragic love, Romeo and
Juliet. Set in Renaissance Italy with Prokofiev’s lush score, this
romantic story is perfect for Valentine’s Day.

The final
performance of the season will make a dramatic departure from classical
ballet, incorporating popular music and a variety of dance traditions,
and will feature the music of techno star, producer and DJ artist Moby,
along with singers Patsy Cline and Frank Sinatra. Three choreographers
on the cutting edge of dance performance also will participate. Twyla
Tharp, choreographer of Broadway’s Movin’ Out, will work with the
company on Nine Sinatra Songs, featuring the music of Sinatra. Also
included is a ballet based on the album Play by Moby and one based on
the music of Cline. Both will be Oklahoma premieres.
