At least one debate between Gov. Mary Fallin and Democratic challenger Joe Dorman will be held prior to November’s gubernatorial election.

An Oct. 2 debate in Stillwater has been agreed upon by both campaigns, but Rep. Dorman has challenged Fallin to at least five more.

“Governor Fallin accepted this one debate invitation, but it’s simply not enough for Oklahoma voters,” Dorman said in a statement. “She and I have very different views about how to lead Oklahoma over the next four years. Voters will not be adequately informed about our differences on the issues with only one debate, nor will enough voters see the debate.”

The October debate will be sponsored by OSU, OETA and the League of Women Voters.

In an interview with KOKC Tuesday morning, Fallin spokesperson Alex Weintz said conversations were ongoing about more debates.

"Gov. Fallin is absolutely not afraid to debate Joe," Weintz said.

A spokesperson form Dorman’s campaign also said the two sides were were talks about additional debates.
