At this point, nearly every athlete, politician and celebrity has been called out to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. If you haven’t been, then you just aren’t that important. Oklahoma native and NFL wide-receiver Wes Welker was recently challenged to participate by the coach of his former college, who also extended the challenge to Beyonce.
That challenge from Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury also featured a communal ice bathing of sorts that proves there is more than one way to toss cold water on a person. (Our favorites are the ones that don’t work; just search “Ice Bucket Challenge Fails” on YouTube.)
The marketing plan designed to draw attention to ALS research has swept the nation, and never before has America come together in an effort to avoid giving money to charity by dousing themselves in freezing water.
