The Oklahoma Legislature gave the City of Oklahoma City an early Christmas present: a $9 million bill to complete a Native American museum the city never asked for.

State lawmakers approved a plan to finish the stalled project in Oklahoma City, but it would require the city to contribute millions. Mayor Mick Cornett has said he will review the proposal and the city will consider it as an option.

Oklahoma City has encouraged the state to finish its museum and believes it could help spark additional development near the Oklahoma River. As it stands now, the partially built museum serves as a reminder of what can and can’t be accomplished when lawmakers put their heads together.
