Chicken-Fried News: Character talks

Almost everyone has heard the recording featuring Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump making disparaging remarks about women.

On Oct. 8, The Washington Post released a 2005 video and audio recording in which Trump, speaking to Access Hollywood co-anchor Billy Bush, admitted he had made moves on a married woman “like a bitch,” according to a New York Times transcript of the recording.

“[I’m] automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. … I don’t even wait,” Trump said. “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

The story quickly went viral.

Even Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin reacted to Trump’s recorded statements.

“Both of our nation’s presidential candidates are very flawed and have made mistakes. … I am disappointed and offended by the comments made by Mr. Trump 11 years ago. His comments about women were totally unacceptable,” Fallin said in an Oct. 9 media statement.

The governor went on to say she hopes Trump’s apology is sincere and that he “takes the opportunity to demonstrate he has the character and leadership skills to be president.”

“May God heal our land,” she added.

The Washington Post reported Oct. 8 that Trump publicly apologized but also said, “I’ve said some foolish things, but there’s a big difference between the words and actions of other people,” before deflecting his focus onto alleged past behaviors of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s husband.
