Be the first to get an early peek at JRB Art at The Elms’ 2011 calendar and a chance to buy pieces featured in it, as the gallery hosts the exhibit’s opening, with a 1 to 6 p.m. reception on Saturday.
Twenty pieces from 20 artists who are showcased in the calendar comprise the exhibit, which runs through Jan. 28, 2011.
Carolyn Stuart, gallery business manager, said this is an opportunity for people to preview the best of the best for the New Year. She noted that many times, patrons have wanted to purchase a piece from the calendar, only to learn it was too late.
“We’ve been doing the calendar for a lot of years, but this is the first time for the exhibit,” Stuart said. “We just want to give people an opportunity to see the art that will be in the calendar early.”
Pieces by familiar metro names like Greg Gummersall, Michelle Mikesell, Michi Susan, Jim Keffer, JP Morrison, and Thomas Batista will be on display, as well as work by new artists Christine Sefolosha, Jonathan Hils, Nick Bayer and Glenna Goodacre. Their works encompass a wide range of media, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, glass, fine crafts, functional objects, fiber art and photographs.
The calendar show will take place alongside a multimedia oil painting exhibit titled “The Games We Play” by Mikesell, the gallery’s featured artist for January.
