Instead of waiting for inspiration to come to him, artist Thomas Stotts decided to find inspiration himself. And find it he did.

The resulting exhibit, “New Work,” features paintings of landscapes he saw while on a cross-country journey to 16 art shows. It remains on display through Feb. 28 at Adelante! Gallery, 3003 Paseo, where an artist’s reception will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

“It had always been a dream of mine to be a full-time artist,” Stotts said, “so I decided to pack everything up and travel to different states to participate in their art shows.”

During his travels, he was struck by the beauty of states such as California, Colorado, New Jersey and New York. Through his landscapes, he hopes to convey the feelings he felt while experiencing the scenes firsthand. “I was so inspired by the atmospheres of all of these different places,” Stotts said. “I want people to be able to look at the painting and be drawn to that place.”
