Heat advisory to continue all weekend long

Don't forget your suntan lotion

Alex Ewald July 21st, 2011

Fifty-seven state counties, including the Oklahoma City area, will ride out the remaining heat wave over the weekend as the National Weather Service’s Heat Advisory warning will continue until 10 p.m. Sunday.

Though expected to be partly cloudy weather, temperatures will reach the triple-digit degrees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the counties of Canadian, Cleveland, Grady, Lincoln, Logan, McClain and Oklahoma, according to the NWS located in Norman. County residents can also expect low wind gusts from 10 to 15 mph coming from the south-southeast on Friday and Saturday.

The weather service recommends residents stay in an air-conditioned environment and pay attention to signs of heat stress in friends, family and pets. Extra precautions also include being careful while outside and rescheduling strenuous activity like exercise to the early or late hours.
