Or maybe you want to show off your patriotism, and every single thing about your Fourth of July soiree has to fit that theme.
Lastly, you might be the type who treats holidays like any other day. You’re probably anti-establishment, anti-organized anything and way cooler than all of us.
The most important thing you’ll learn in life is the art of balance. Holidays are no different. Keep it safe, less is more and don’t be a complete party pooper.
I’m going to level with you guys:
I’m a Patriotic Polly. I wear the colors and eat the ice cream. I shoot off fireworks and grill out with my family.
I even jump in the inflatable moonbounce that my uncle rents every year.
How does an inflatable castle relate to the Fourth of July? I have not a clue, but it sure is fun. I’m also the type to coordinate colors with holidays: red and green for Christmas; red and pink for Valentine’s; green for St. Patrick’s; and red, white and blue for the Fourth.
Recently, I learned there is actually a code when it comes to use of the U.S. flag: the U.S. Flag Code, to be exact. It makes it pretty clear that our flag should never be drawn back or bunched up, so you fashion-conscious patriots out there might rethink any plans to wrap Old Glory around yourself and belt it.
The truth is, patriotism is about much more than donning stars and stripes one day a year. If you do want to get festive, consider a more subtle and classy approach.
