OKG7 munchies on May Avenue

Every week, we give you seven OKC-area restaurants to explore.

Jenn Scott December 19th, 2012

May Avenue traffic can be exhausting. Don’t let it get to you. Instead, enjoy what the busy street has to offer your taste buds!

Falcone’s Pizzeria & Deli
6705 N. May
242-2222

This little nook provides a busy-road respite and is packed with tasty pizza, calzones and big bowls of pasta. By yourself? Grab a few slices and a fresh cannoli for a little Italian feast. Falcone’s also has a deli case full of fresh meats and cheeses that can be ordered by the pound.

Margarita’s Mexican
7800 N. May
848-8394

If you’re from the Midwest, it’s just a matter of time before you’re wrecked with a Tex-Mex craving. When it happens, enjoy the sampler at Margarita’s, complete with flautas, nachos and quesadillas. Branch out with the Mexican gumbo or Golden Burrito, with gravy and cheese.

Nomad II
7301 N. May
nomadrestaurantokc.com
843-4557

Known for its chicken Marsala and delicious pizza, Nomad is a cozy, upscale Euro-American delight with plenty of veal options, as well as a filet, shrimp dishes and traditional spaghetti. Don’t pass up the dessert: cheesecake, carrot cake and chocolate overload tart.

Okura Sushi & Grill
7508 N. May
842-3764

After some serious shopping at Blue Seven, you’ve likely worked up an appetite. Pop in for sushi and enjoy all the usual suspects like California and Crazy Cajun rolls or attempt a platter like the Titanic, complete with tuna, salmon and halibut.

Vito’s Ristorante
7521 N. May
vitosokc.com
848-4867

If you’re craving Italian — and lots of it — enjoy this family-style restaurant. All the dishes are crafted with love, handed down through generations of proprietor Cathy Cummings’ family. While you’re there, indulge in the Fat Tony’s pasta special, complete with your choice of pasta and meatballs or Italian sausage.

Pho’nomenal
7504 N. May
608-4151

You can expect your favorites like rice dishes, noodle soups and egg rolls. If you’re extra hungry and can’t decide between the three, try a dish that combines them all — vermicelli with shrimp and spring roll. On the go? Grab one of the many smoothies: avocado, mocha blast, lychee, mango, blueberry or taro.

Mediterranean Imports & Deli
5620 N. May
medimportsokc.com
810-9494

Forgetting about reality, even for a little while, is one of the best parts about living in a city. At Imports, the overgrown vegetation beckons weary road-warriors to come in. Lunch specials range from Italian salami to mujadra (lentil pilaf) and fresh baba ghanoush is served up daily.
