Sprouting up

Alyssa Grimley April 24th, 2013

Sprouts Farmers Market, a grocery store with an old-fashioned feel, recently opened a new location in Norman.

Sprouts CMO and Oklahoma native Steve Black said he thinks the store is a good fit for the area.

“Based on the turnout on grandopening day, the community is pretty hungry for the natural and organic food we have,” he said.

Black said Normanites are excited to have a place to buy affordable yet healthy food. Boar’s Head deli meat is among the most highly anticipated products that Sprouts will offer.

“People originally from other parts of the country had this kind of thing available to them, so they’re excited to see it here in Norman,” he said.

Black said the mission of Sprouts — which also has locations in Oklahoma City and Edmond — is not only to provide healthy food to the community, but also to raise awareness about how to lead a healthy life.

“We want to educate the consumer on how to eat better, and we want to bring affordable healthy food to the consumer,” he said.

So far, it looks like Sprouts, located at 555 W. Main, is going to be right at home in Sooner Country.

“It’s going to be a good community partnership,” Black said.
