A park is generally a place where kids can play. An art show is generally for adults looking to be inspired. But Friday through Sunday, art meets the park at Norman's 33rd annual May Fair Arts Festival.

May Fair's 2007 Celebrated Artist, Bob Palmer, will let kids help him create three canvas murals honoring Oklahoma's children.

Palmer, art department chair at the University of Central Oklahoma, has received state, regional and national recognition for his murals.

"Dr. Palmer is the creator and painter of more than a thousand murals as a form of public art," said Bates, chair for May Fair, in a press release. "He and his students have created quite a name and reputation for themselves, not only in Oklahoma, but also literally around the world."

ACTIVITIES
Other fun spots for kids include the "You Can Make a Difference" interactive program and the Arts Yard.

The program, hosted by Little River Zoo, will use animals and volunteers to teach kids kindness and humane education.

At the Arts Yard, kids can pay a small fee to make handmade rope, paint on easels or visit the Creation Station.

The May Fair Arts Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Andrews Park, 201 W. Daws. Admission is free. For more information, call 210-6825. "Krista Nightengale
