Get your snappin’ fingers warmed up — Sauced on Paseo has launched an open mic night.
Started just last week, the Paseo pizzeria (which is under new ownership) is hosting any would-be artistes who want to share their music, comedy, poetry and more. I’m not entirely sure what that “and more” could entail, but I urge you to be creative.
Personally, I’d like to see another rendition from Dr. Fünke’s 100 Percent Natural Good-Time Family Band Solution, but maybe that’s just me.
The new open mic night will entertain (or, possibly “entertain”) from 7 p.m. until close, every Tuesday at Sauced, 2912 Paseo. The event is sponsored by Conspiracy of Angels, a local band that I think should definitely consider a name with a bit more dramatic flair. (And before you freak out, I’m sure they have more musical talent that I possess in the toenail of my smallest of toes, but someone should alert them to this.)
But, wait! There’s more! The pizza place is also hosting an open mic on Wednesday nights for poetry and musicians. This one is sponsored by Red Dirt Poetry and takes the stage from 8:30 p.m. to close. Oh, and if you’re thinking of getting up there to perform, it has a limit of six minutes per performance.
While you’re there, order a slice of pizza. Trust me, you’ll be happy with the difference new ownership has made to the quality.
