ParaNorman

Children's

None
If you haven’t seen 2009’s Coraline, you might be more inclined to surrender yourself to the macabre charm of ParaNorman. Both films, works of stop-motion animation by the Oregon-based Laika company, share much in common: an outcast protagonist, ineffectual grown-ups, visually stunning riffs on the supernatural.

Scatological divide

None
The national collegiate wakeboarding championship kicked off May 31, but rather than the competitors rocking the Oklahoma River, they found themselves paddling up, well, Shit Creek. The contest had to be moved to Guthrie after elevated levels of E. coli bacteria were found in the water.

Lincoln. Also on Saturday, kids age 8 to 16 can go for a short paddle with a top U.S. athlete. Admission is free. Visit boathousedistrict.org.

Councilman misfires with gun comment

Letters to the Editor

None
In reference to “Citty under siege,” I have to respond to the comment by Councilman Sam Bowman. In reference to the AR-15 rifle he said, “This is a very, very different piece of weaponry out there that is military in nature and just separate from all.”

OKC Chamber CEO’S chronology is incorrect

Letters to the Editor

None
Williams is simply incorrect on his chronology. He stated current Oklahoma alcohol laws date to statehood 103 years ago. Oklahoma came to statehood absolutely prohibiting possession, sale, consumption, manufacture (and I think transportation) of alcohol: complete and total prohibition.
