"Meet Me on Bourbon Street"
This year’s “Meet Me” event, which celebrates Jazz in June’s 30th anniversary and coincides with the Norman Mardi Gras Parade, is slated for 6-9 p.m. Feb. 9 at Shevaun Williams & Associates Commercial Photography, 221 E. Main St. The photography studio is located on the parade route.
Highlights of the celebration will include:
· Odette and Andy Horton’s remembrances of New Orleans and Carnival
· the formal announcement of Jazz in June 2013 musicians
· recorded music of Jazz in June 2013 musicians
· highlights from past Jazz in June performances
Tickets are $50 per person and are available at jazzinjune.org. Attendees must be 21 or older.
“The parade and the Meet Me on Bourbon Street party provide the community with two fun events on the same night with fantastic Mardi Gras synergy,” said Jazz in June president Michael Lewchuk. “Meet Me on Bourbon Street embodies the same fun, relaxed environment as Jazz in June’s concerts, so those who attend will not be disappointed."

Since its founding by the Norman Arts and Humanities Council and the Cimarron Circuit Opera Company in 1984 to bring high-quality blues and jazz acts to Norman, Jazz in June has evolved into a much-anticipated annual event attended by more than 50,000 people. Past performers include David Sanborn, Larry Coryell, Duke Ellington Small Band, Chuck Mangione, T.S. Monk III, Paquito D’Rivera, Ellis Marsalis Quartet, Watermelon Slim, Poncho Sanchez, Carolyn Wonderland, The Rounders, Miss Blues & the Blue Notes, and Riverboat Jazz Kings.
