Midwest Regional Medical Center Hosts Semi-Annual Cuddlebugs Baby Shower

Midwest Regional Medical Center is celebrating its maternity program, CuddleBugs, this month on February 23rd with its third CuddleBugs Baby Shower. The shower will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Reed Center at the Sheraton Hotel, 5800 Will Rogers Road, in Midwest City. The program was introduced at Midwest Regional in August 2011 to educate and prepare new and expectant parents for every stage of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and newborn care. The Semi-Annual CuddleBugs Baby Shower is free and expecting parents can register at CuddleBugsBaby.com.

The shower will feature community vendors, door prizes, and a chance to meet experienced labor and delivery nurses, pediatricians and OB/GYN physicians.  The success of the CuddleBugs program will be showcased and expectant moms will receive a free gift for registering. 

CuddleBugs is designed to help prepare moms-to-be for what’s ahead.  Some of the features include a free monthly e-newsletter that delivers relevant, up-to-date communication to new and expectant moms based on their due date provided during the registration process.  The e-newsletters are full of helpful information about baby’s growth and development, tips and hints for coping and relaxing, and medical news for each stage of pregnancy. 

The CuddleBugs program also offers a variety of different classes and support groups for new parents and sibling.  Focus areas in the program include:

·      Labor and Deliver (L&D) - Adorable Arrivals: This six-week series will cover nutrition, anatomy, stages and progression of labor, medication options, breathing techniques, postpartum care, newborn characteristics and daily infant care.

·      Breastfeeding: This two-week series covers breastfeeding basics, common challenges and concerns.

·      Sibling class: Help your older child adjust to the idea of having a new baby in the family.  This class will teach siblings how to hold a baby and help mom and dad with the baby’s care.
