Red Bull Land Rush
College students have an opportunity to channel their inner 89’er spirit and relive the Oklahoma Land Run during the Red Bull Land Rush on Saturday, April 20 along the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City. The Red Bull Land Rush is a modern-day spin on the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 where college students have a chance to compete, in teams of three, to win tickets to Lollapalooza 2013.
The 4.2 mile adventure course is designed to test the endurance of both the body and the mind. The first team to successfully complete the challenges and make it to the finish line stakes their claim to the Lollapalooza prizes including a city suite in Chicago from Aug. 2-4.
Oklahoma college students can apply online at www.redbulllandrush.com before Saturday, April 6. To increase their chances of earning one of the 40 coveted spots, teams can participate in the Red Bull Land Rush pre-challenge by creating a video or submitting photos proving the completion of five of the 10 challenges found on the website including wearing a bonnet made from the state vegetable, singing their best rendition of Roger and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” or dressing like an 1800s fashionista. All teams must have three members, who are 18 years old or older, and a smartphone with access to Twitter and a quick response (QR) code reader. All other materials will be provided by Red Bull.
This is the third year of the Red Bull Land Rush event in Oklahoma. The race is held two days before Oklahoma Day, April 22, when the Oklahoma Land Run originally took place 124 years ago.
Participants and those interested in the race can find more information on the Red Bull Land Rush Facebook page, follow the Red Bull Twitter account @redbullOKLA and hashtag #LANDRUSH for exclusive pre-race clues and updates.
