The University of Central Oklahoma will be hosting a special kind of training in June – one geared to help teachers of singing be really proficient at the styles singers perform on shows like American Idol and The Voice. These styles, which are not the ones traditionally taught in singing lessons, are now very important. Many singers are afraid of hurting their voices and want to learn healthy techniques, so they are flocking to this course to learn how to work with them effectively.
Vocal Expert from New York City, Jeannette LoVetri, who has taught celebrities like Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) on Broadway, will be bring her course, Somatic Voicework™, to the University of Central Oklahoma over the weekend of June 14-16, 2013. Department Chair, Dr. Kevin Eckard, says, “Ms. LoVetri is offering something you really can’t find anywhere else. Her course is grounded in science and four decades of experience teaching. We are excited to have her here as it allows us to break very important educational ground in our area”.
LoVetri has created a course unlike any other and has had endorsements from Trey Anastasio, Lead Singer and Guitarist of the rock band, “Phish”, as well as from medical doctors, scientific researchers and many of her colleagues in universities and conservatories across the USA and in foreign countries. The Level I program is an intensive immersion in contemporary techniques for teachers and singers who need to learn to properly address today’s dynamic musical styles.
