Invisible Eve

None
Saturday August 31

The newest temporary exhibit opening on May 30 at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, Invisible Eve, features black and white portraits of incarcerated women convicted on nonviolent crimes in Oklahoma, displayed alongside their personal messages by photography Yousef Khanfar. A book of the same name and content is being release with the exhibit.

The goal of the exhibit is to take the viewer behind prison walls, bringing powerful images and messages – not to condemn or commiserate, but to serve as bridges of understanding.

While completing Invisible Eve, Khanfar came to the understanding that he might not be able to help the women inside prison, but their voices might help women outside prison. After taking each portrait, Khanfar asked the women to write a few words of wisdom for the next generation.  The hope is that people will find wisdom within the words, where the fault of one might be the salvation of another. More information about this project can be found at www.invisibleeve.com.
