Midnight Streak

11 p.m., Saturday August 10

The 9th annual Midnight Streak will take place at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, 3000 General Pershing Blvd. at State Fair Park.

Festivities for the 5K run/walk will begin at 9 p.m. with a live performance from local rock band, Full Circle.  Other family activities include star gazing with the Oklahoma City Astronomy Club, and a children’s activity area where kids can come and get their face painted, as well as make some fun crafts.  Taste of Soul Chicken and Waffles and Roxy’s Ice Cream trucks will be onsite, and adult beverages will be available for those over the age of 21.

The exhibition Walking, Eating, Sleeping, will remain open past normal gallery hours for Midnight Streak attendees to enjoy throughout the event.  The artwork of Laurie Frick explores the intersection of technology and creativity as the artist herself adopts a daily regimen of self-tracking that measures her activities and body.

Registration is $35 until the day of the race, at which time registration will be $40.  The first 1,000 people registered will receive a Dri-Fit T-shirt and the first 1,000 people to pick up their registrations on Thursday or Friday (August 8 - 9) will receive an LED bracelet.  Pickup locations are Thursday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center and on Friday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at OK Runner in Edmond.

Proceeds support Oklahoma Contemporary’s mission to encourage artistic expression in all its forms through education and exhibitions.  View the course map and/or register on-line at OklahomaContemporary.org or in-person at Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center.  Onsite registration will open at 7 p.m. the evening of the race.  The 5K (3.1 miles) course is certified by USA Track & Field.  Race logistics are managed by OK Runner and chip timing will be provided by DG Productions.
