Three Artists All Over the Place
Thursday February 13
Born and raised in Germany, Heidi James started traveling and exploring at an early age. Those travels took her all over the world, especially to the countries and cultures of South East Asia. She developed an eye for artistic expression in Malaysia with Chinese brush painting, and then branched into “the brilliant world of oil painting.” Now living in Norman, James says “Shapes and colors have always drawn my eye and I enjoy learning the various techniques of applying paint to canvas. My favorite subject -- the endlessly fascinating flower.”
Striving to paint in a colorful, vibrant style, Sylvia Miller says her “art reflects her life experiences which come from living in Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. I have traveled in Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States. Every area has its beauty.” Miller enjoys painting with both brushes and palette knives. “The brush brings versatility, and the knife provides impressionistic effects and pure colors.” Her subject matter ranges from wildlife to landscapes to still lifes.
Patricia Foster is an Oklahoma native who makes her home in Purcell. Versed in the mediums of oil, watercolor and pastels, Foster’s paintings “celebrate western heritage and the wonders of nature.” Her realistic, traditional paintings strive “to capture a reverence for the beauty and complexity of animals and the charm and soul of humanity.”
