Simply Broadway - Brian Stokes
Tony Award winning Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell returns to the Armstrong Auditorium on Tuesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. with select songs from his new album “Simply Broadway.”
Labeled “The Last Leading Man” by the New York Times, Mitchell has spent more than twenty years providing entertainment on television, film and on the Broadway stage. “Simply Broadway” is the latest addition to Mitchell’s extensive resume, inspired by some of the greatest recordings from the 40s 50s and 60s—recorded with the simplicity of a solo vocal and piano. Stokes will revive this classic format as he performs favorite Broadway songs from shows such as Company, Camelot, Porgy and Bess, Les Miserables and Sunday in the Park with George.
“We received tremendous acclaim from patrons who enjoyed Mr. Mitchell’s jazz ensemble when he last performed with us, and look forward to his fresh take on classic Broadway hits,” said Ryan Malone, Armstrong Auditorium concert manager.
Armstrong Auditorium offers an intimate experience for both musicians and guests. With only 75 feet separating the stage from the back wall, even the largest of audiences have perfect sight lines, no matter their seat. With acoustics that are unmatched in this world-class facility, guests will soon be able to celebrate Broadway hits like never before.
