Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

7-9 p.m., Tuesday April 08
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are two of Mark Twain’s most beloved characters in all of Americana . . . like baseball and apple pie. And the script, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,’ which is adapted for the stage by Randal Myler, is probably the most comprehensive adaptation of the book around. It covers all of Huck and Jim’s adventures as they float down the Mississippi, and does so, in a most creative and interesting way.

The show will be under the capable direction of Rebecca Upshaw. She is the choral music director at PCHS and has directed such productions as “Annie,” “Seussical the Musical,” “Little Women,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and most recently, “The King and I.”

The cast consists of roles for 10 men and 4 women of all ages. More can be cast, if available, but the doubling of roles is also a possibility. The cast of 14 is the least number that can be used. The role of Jim must be played by an African American actor.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Those auditioning need to bring their theatre resume along with a headshot. If you do not have a headshot, one can be taken at the theatre for a charge of $1.00. Auditioners also need to bring a list of their conflicts from April 14th through June 15th, 2014.

Audition dates are set for April 7 and 8 from 7-9 p.m. nightly. Callbacks will be Wednesday, June 9th, if needed. Production dates are June 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15, 2014.

Questions or requests for more information can be directed to Ms. Upshaw at 227-3711. Questions can also be e-mailed to the theatre at
