 City OK) -- The Oklahoma City Philharmonic presents a one-hour 
afternoon concert for children and their families titled "America The 
Beautiful" on Sunday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Music 
Hall. Matt Troy conducts the Philharmonic in patriotic music including 
the "Star Spangled Banner," "Fanfare for Freedom," "Yankee Doodle," 
"Stars And Stripes Forever" and much more. </p>
<p>Designed
 for children ages 4 to 13, the Discovery Family Concerts are the 
perfect way to introduce children to orchestral music. These fast-paced 
programs include music, dancers, singers, costumed characters and many 
visual and participatory elements to make the concerts memorable and 
fun.</p>
<p>Pre-concert
 activities entertain youngsters for one-hour before each concert with 
arts &amp; crafts, demonstrations, physical play and the Instrument 
Playground.</p>
<p>Presenting
 Sponsorship for the Discovery Family Series is provided by BancFirst. 
SandRidge Energy presents Discovery Conductor Matthew Troy. Concert 
support is provided by Steven Agee, Ph.D. and Mr. &amp; Mrs. Andrew 
Evans.</p>

 Thomas Troy is entering his fourth season as assistant conductor of the
 Winston-Salem Symphony. He also serves as the music director of the 
Youth Symphony and is the Winston-Salem Symphony’s education director. 
This year Troy will also continue his appointment as Education Conductor
 with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, where he will conduct the 
Discovery and Educational Concert Series.Troy has previously held 
positions as conductor of the Fibonacci Chamber Orchestra, the Wake 
Forest University Orchestra, and the Salisbury Youth Orchestra. He has 
also served as assistant conductor of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra 
and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Symphony 
Orchestra. Troy has led performances with many internationally renowned 
soloists, including Midori, Anthony Dean Griffey, Eileen Ivers, and many
 others. </p>
<p>Troy
 maintains an active guest conducting schedule and has led performances 
with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, the
 Carolina Chamber Symphony, Kensington Consort, the Philharmonia of 
Greensboro, Gate City Camerata, and the Triad Chamber Music Society.</p>

												Tracing
 its roots to the city’s first professional orchestra in 1924, the 
Oklahoma City Philharmonic formed in 1988 under the musical direction of
 Joel Levine with the help of many civic leaders and corporations.<br><br>The
 Philharmonic employs professional musicians in a per service contract. 
With subscription performances from September through May, the 
Philharmonic presents a series of eight Classics concerts and six pairs 
of Pops concerts each season. Regional performances and many educational
 outreach concerts, including the Discovery Family Series and Youth 
Concerts to area school children, are presented by the OKC Philharmonic.
 Holiday performances of “The Christmas Show!”, the July 3rd concert in 
downtown Oklahoma City, the July 4th concert in Yukon, OK, and the 
annual Labor Day concert presented at the Oklahoma City Community 
College have become family traditions for thousands in Central Oklahoma.<br><br>Together
 with the Oklahoma City Orchestra League, the Philharmonic presents 18 
different education programs that bring enrichment to music lovers of
