Movie trailers can be found in the bonus screens of most DVDs. Rare is the case when the clips are the featured attraction, and a feature film is the extra — as in "Trailers from Hell! Volume Two."

In general, I prefer the films of Guillermo del Toro that he doesn’t direct (“The Orphanage,” “Splice”) to the ones he does (particularly “Hellboy” and its sequel). That holds true for “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” which he only co-wrote and co-produced, ceding the director’s chair to newcomer Troy Nixey.

Guillermo del Toro is a giant talent, but he has an equally giant problem in getting too close to his films, to a point where he's unable to see any of their faults; thus, they often overstay their welcome. ("Hellboy II: The Golden Army" was among 2008's most tiresome movies, but length was hardly that one's only problem.)

Once more, the films Guillermo del Toro chooses to produce, I find more interesting than the ones he chooses to direct.

Assuming you’ve yet to acquire the director’s cut of Mimic that Lionsgate unleashed to Blu-ray last fall, I’d suggest opting for its new, franchise complete 3 Film Set. Only Guillermo del Toro’s 1997 original played theaters, while the two sequels went the direct-to-DVD route, on purpose.
