Today, the Oklahoma Historical Society accepted a donation from Griffin Communications containing a treasure trove of television news footage: all archives documenting the nearly 50 years of significant news coverage by the company, which owns Oklahoma City’s KWTV Channel 9 and Tulsa’s KOTV Channel 6.

Sadly, only to those in the know, the name Bob Wills — the King of Western Swing — very rarely makes the list. But if Tulsa’s Oklahoma Museum of Pop Culture (OKPOP) has its way, it could rewrite the pop music history books forever.
