Klown

One tart and tasty Danish!

Comedy

Rod Lott
That The Hangover director Todd Phillips has plans to helm an Americanization of the Danish comedy Klown (or Klovn) comes as neither a surprise nor a shock. I'd only be surprised if the remake can get within arm's length of equaling it.

Whiz kid

CFN

Gazette staff
We are grateful for the hard work of our men in blue. But there’s a thin blue line between law-abiding citizens and killers, robbers and 3-year-olds peeing in their front yard. Er, make that a thin yellow line.

Nature Calls

Scout’s honor: This movie should be funny.

Comedy

Rod Lott
Nature Calls finds writer/director Todd Rohal attempting to shoehorn the wonderfully, outlandishly absurd humor of his previous film, 2011's The Catechism Cataclysm, into a vehicle more mainstream. While it doesn't generate ill will, it does not work, try though the cast might.

The Tarzan Collection Starring Jock Mahoney and Mike Henry

Contract a case of jungle fever.

Action

Rod Lott
What an unwieldy title The Tarzan Collection Starring Jock Mahoney and Mike Henry is. Then again, so many actors have donned the loincloth of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ iconic lord of the jungle across nearly 100 movies and counting, so specificity is required. This particular five-flick, five-disc set from Warner Archive rounds up the entire turns of the two men mentioned in the title.

My Amityville Horror

Arguably better than most of the sequels (and definitely the remake).

Documentary

Rod Lott
Daniel Lutz doesn't like people to know he's one of the children who lived through The Amityville Horror — as Jay Anson's best-selling book and subsequent smash movie called it — and yet here he is, front and center for an entire documentary on that "unfortunate gift." Be glad he gave in; My Amityville Horror is an occasionally gripping portrait of a middle-aged man still coming to terms with a terrible childhood.

A Boy and His Dog

Overlooked in its time, the cult classic is unearthed and given the Blu-ray treatment. Don Johnson in hi-fi!

Sci-Fi

Patrick Crain
There is something truly remarkable about A Boy and His Dog: the ability to remain under the radar despite all its cultural touchstones, owing a debt of gratitude to L.Q. Jones’s adaptation of Harlan Ellison’s novella.

Community demands governor action over boy's death

Family collects 460,000 signatures demanding an investigation, and claims dozens of calls for help were ignored before teenager Quinten Wood's death.

News

Tim Farley
Mid-Del Public Schools and the state’s Department of Human Services did nothing to help 15-year-old special education student Quinten Wood escape a life of neglect and abuse, a family member charged Tuesday at the state Capitol.
