There’s that children’s book with the kids behaving badly and learning life lessons ... yes, The Hunger Games, but add songs and you have Piggy Nation. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sooner Theatre at 101 E. Main in Norman debuts the musical based on Oklahoma author Richard Rosser’s work, featuring a young cast of 20 and with 3 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10. The documentary 8 Murders a Day examines the human-rights disaster that has resulted from Mexico's war on the drug cartels — specifically in Juarez, the murder capital of the world. You call yourself an Oklahoman? and B) Find out at the 24th Annual Chuck Wagon Gathering and Children’s Cowboy Festival, where tasty chuck wagon food samples and activities for the kiddos will have you saying, “Yee-haw!” Corral the family and join the two-day fest 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63rd St. Admission is $15 and free for museum members and children 12 and under.
