Eighteen years ago, Midtown was nothing more than a “neglected backwater” replete with halfway houses and abandoned buildings. Faced with blighted conditions years before the April 19, 1995, disaster, Midtown was instead a ghost town created by the 1980s’ devastating oil bust and ensuing disinvestment.

The Paseo Arts Association hearts art a lot, which is why they’ve partnered with Oklahoma Heart Hospital for their annual The Art of Heart exhibit. This year’s show features the contemporary work of OKC sculptor Barbara S. Scott. See Scott’s work at an opening reception 6-10 p.m. Friday at Paseo Art Space, 3022 Paseo St. The show runs through February, and admission is free. Call 525-2688 or visit thepaseo.com.
