Sheryl Siddiqui’s Commentary (“The post-9/11 Muslim experience,” Sept. 21, Oklahoma Gazette) is certainly helpful in some respects, but it is disingenuous in others.

It’s not as if President Obama and Oklahoma’s Republican lawmakers have been exactly chummy, but the White House’s rejection of a proposed oil pipeline connecting Canada to Texas has state politicians forgetting everything they might have learned in Anger Management 101.

With the legislative session over, it’s a good time to think about ways to make the next one better. Specifically, I’m concerned with making the legislative process more transparent.

So, the elections have mercifully come and gone, putting an end — at least for a while — to commercials of political candidates holding U.S. flags, kissing babies and laughing with confused elderly folks.
