The Del Toros — Come Down

Rock

Stephen Carradini
Informed equally by ’90s rock and modern pop, Tulsa-based The Del Toros infuse each of the 10 tracks on “Come Down” with a sharp sense of melody and a clear vision. Each of the songs is incredibly friendly to the ear, which is good — you’ll have them with you for a while afterward.

‘Deep’ thoughts

A dubious honor to win, we'll admit.

CFN

Gazette staff
It’s not every day CFN’s World Headquarters receives a press release in all-caps, blood-red letters with the words “NOTIFICATION OF SPECIAL AWARD” screaming in a medieval Gothic font.

Ugly no more

The last hurrah of The Uglysuit appears

Music

Stephen Carradini
Oklahoma City indie-rock band The Uglysuit broke up last year, leaving behind an unfinished album and a fan base spread across the nation. But after some late-night mixing and mastering sessions, the nine-track album, “Awwww, Shucks …” will make it to ears across America sometime this year.

The Hitt Boyz — AlphaCat

Rock

Zach Hale
Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way: The band is called The Hitt Boyz, whose latest release is an EP titled AlphaCat, and, yes, the artwork is kind of amazing.

The local group celebrates its own DVD with a shindig from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday at Voodoo Lounge, 530 S. Broadway. Special guests include Gunpowder Junkies, Gog and Cutthroat Freak Show. Call 237-2803.

Tallows — Memory Marrow

Indie

Zach Hale
Expectations can be a real pain in the ass. With today’s digital release model, hype trains traverse the Internet at breakneck speeds, often before a proper album is released. One or two great songs can set the bar so extraordinarily high that it will never be attained, much less cleared.
