Shawnee artist Stacey Miller uses prints of hummingbirds to capture life’s fragile nature in “Evanescence,” her new exhibit at the state Capitol.
Odds are good that ‘80s chart icon/heartthrob Rick Springfield will play many of his 17 Billboard Top 40 hits at 7 p.m. Saturday at FireLake Grand Casino in Shawnee. (In fact, bet the house on “Jessie’s Girl” — I just know it.)
But did you this about the Rickster?
1. Before hitting it big, he fronted a band called Zoot.
2. According to his memoir, he wrote some great songs while suffering depression and having suicidal thoughts.
3. He played the first incarnation of DC Comics’ “Human Target” in a 1992 ABC series. (The current one on Fox has lasted longer.)
4. In the early 1970s, he played himself on the “Brady Kids” Saturday-morning cartoon spin-off, “Mission: Magic!”
5. His one-time live-in girlfriend? “The Exorcist” star Linda Blair. She was 15 at the time. —Rod Lott
