New Year, new resolutions

Features

Jenny Coon Peterson
I have a friend who chooses one resolution every year. Since I’ve known her, she’s gone 365 days without chocolate, cheese and soda (the latest). That is a steely resolve that I just don’t have.

Adequate ammunition

Letters to the Editor

B.R. Anderson

Regarding Joel Hendrickson’s recent comments (Letters, “Gun advocate’s argument full of holes,” March 9, Oklahoma Gazette): Hendrickson lives in Oklahoma, not the United Nations. Our soldiers wear green or tan helmets and are trained to kill and/or destroy things, not wear blue helmets and spew false statistics.

You know what they say: Those who wear hats make more bank. Aight, so they don’t say that, but it will hold true for a few lucky ones covering their noggins at the annual Kentucky Derby hat contest, from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Remington Park, 1 Remington Place. Winners will take home anywhere from $100 to $500, but all can enjoy the tea party. Call 424-1000 or visit remingtonpark.com.

Calm down, Ayn Rand devotees — it’s not that kind of tea party. The University of Oklahoma School of Art and Art History invites the public to its fourth annual Tee Party, starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Fred Jones Art Center, 540 Parrington Oval in Norman. Bring a T-shirt, tote bag or pillowcase to be printed with exclusive designs; watch printmaking demos; and enjoy pizza and soda while you’re at it. Admission is free. Call 325-2691 or visit art.ou.edu.
